Welcome October. I have been writing a monthly blog for over 8 years now and this month I struggled with choosing a theme. September proved to be a very heavy and difficult month filled with shock, grief and deep sadness on a global level. When I listened to my own advice and went within to seek guidance on what the theme should be I was immediately reminded that we are the Light. Individually and collectively. No Darkness can live in the Light. Therefore it is more important now that we once again commit to Living in the Light.
How can you invite more light into your own life? Perhaps it is by daily walks in nature, meditation, prayer, visiting a sacred site or symbol. I have written a great deal over the last 8 years about “raising our vibration or our frequency”. In today’s troubling times, this is of critical importance. To keep you frequency high, consider limiting the amount of time you consume media (social and otherwise).

October’s Magic
Historically the time of many festivals including my most favorite Holiday – Halloween. In the old tradition Halloween was called Samhain – (pronounced saah-ween) a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter. In the old traditions, it was a time to honor the harvest and to celebrate ancestors and those who have passed from this life. Halloween, like many holidays, marks the passage of time. In more current times Halloween is the holiday where children (and others) don masks and costumes and go trick or treating.
October is a time for clearing away the old unnecessary things or habits that no longer serve us. It is a time of transition and contemplation. It is a time when we honor those who have died and the gifts they brought us when they were here on earth.
Our bodies can be challenged around this time of year as it tries to assimilate all the changes in frequency hitting our planet. It will take some discipline and a great deal of compassion and patience and you can begin by looking at how you support your physical body as well as your emotional and spiritual bodies and what you can do to increase that support. Once again you are being reminded of staying in the Light. Rose Healing is here to help with this.
Some other ideas for how you can honor this Autumn:
Take a meditative walk in nature observing the beauty of the colored leaves. Experience the cycle of death and rebirth as nature shows it to us.
Visit a cemetery where some of your ancestors lie in their final resting place.
Maybe carve a pumpkin, bake an apple pie or don a costume and embrace the energy of October.
Since it is also a time of letting go, consider going through your closets and giving away that which you no longer need or use. This exercise of clearing away things from our household also encourages a “clearing away” on other levels. Notice how much lighter you feel after accomplishing this.
Our Crystal for October is Rutilated Quartz
Speaking of things that hold powerful energy, our Crystal of the Month is Rutilated Quartz. Rutilated Quartz is an example of how miracles occur in nature. Science doesn't fully understand how rutilated quartz is formed since the softer metal colored hairs grew into the harder surrounding quartz crystal. So you can understand why this crystal was associated with angels and protective spirits in ancient lore all around the world.
Metaphysical Properties:
Rutilated Quartz is an effective purifier and integrator of energy. It encourages letting go, helps you to clear your mind, teaches you how to sharpen your focus, and strengthens your light body so that you gain more profound insights.
Rutilated Quartz connects you to your soul-plan and helps you to understand the effects of previous actions and ingrained patterns.
To access the energy of this stone, you can either focus on the image of the stone or hold a piece of it in your hand. As you do so, visualize the stone's grounding energy flowing through your body, bringing you a sense of calm, balance, and clarity. Once you have that energy flowing, invite in a new spiritual expansion or awareness.
