The Hidden Stirring: Finding Light in the Heart of Winter
While February is technically the shortest month, it often feels like the longest. The skies are often grey, the air is sharp, and the landscape remains tucked under a blanket of frost. But beneath our feet, a sacred "quickening" is happening. There are seeds below the frozen ground just waiting for the right moment to sprout. This month, I invite you to turn your attention inward to the seeds you are planting for your own life. What is beginning to stir within you? If like so many of us you are feeling overwhelmed by our world and trying to put it all in perspective join our Free Monthly Zoom on 2/1.

Tending Your Inner Garden
As we navigate these cold weeks, remember that rest is not "doing nothing"—it is the essential preparation for the bloom that is to come. February is a month of beautiful contradictions: the quiet, patient stillness of the seeds under the frost, and the sudden, fiery momentum of the Horse ready to run. By honoring both—the silence of the earth and the fire of your own spirit—you prepare yourself for a spring that is not just a change of weather, but a true transformation of soul.
The Year of the Fire Horse: Lunar New Year
On February 17th, we celebrate the Lunar New Year, stepping into the vibrant energy of the Year of the Horse.
In the natural world, February can feel stagnant, but the energy of the Horse is anything but. It represents passion, freedom, and the courage to gallop toward our dreams. If you’ve been feeling "stuck" in the winter doldrums, this mid-month shift is a powerful time to harness that Fire Horse energy. It’s an invitation to:
Take the Reins: Move from passive waiting to active preparation.
Embrace Freedom: Identify where you’ve been holding yourself back and let your spirit run a bit more wild.
Ignite Your Spark: Use the "Fire" element of 2026 to warm up those seeds we’ve planted deep in the soul.
Reflection Question for February:
If your soul were a garden currently under the snow, what one seed are you most excited to see break through the surface this spring?
The Return of the Light: Imbolc & Candlemas
At the very start of the month (February 1st–2nd), we celebrate Imbolc and Candlemas.
Imbolc: This ancient Celtic tradition marks the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. It is a celebration of the "return of the light"—a reminder that the sun is gaining strength even if we can't feel the warmth just yet.
Candlemas: Traditionally, this was the day all the church’s candles for the year were blessed. It serves as a beautiful metaphor for our own lives: What light are we carrying to sustain us through the remaining weeks of winter?
Whether you are watching the groundhog for a sign of spring or lighting a candle on your altar, these days remind us that the darkness is temporary.
Redefining Valentine’s Day: Love in All Its Forms
In our culture, Valentine’s Day (Feb 14th) can be complicated. For those not in the relationship they desire, it can feel like a day of "missing pieces." For others, it’s a sea of red hearts and roses. At Rose Healing Center, I view Valentine’s Day as a celebration of Love in all its forms.
It is the compassion we show to a stranger.
The love of friendship and community
Romantic love, and
Most importantly, it is the radical act of Self-Love.
If the seeds beneath the snow need nourishment to grow, so do you. This month, let Valentine's Day be a reminder to offer yourself the same tenderness and adoration you would give to another. You are your own primary relationship; nurture that bond first.
✨ Ring of Fire, February 17, 2026 🌑 The 1st Solar Eclipse of 2026 and the Lunar New Year (see above)
On February 17, 2026, the Sun and Moon will meet in a rare and unforgettable way, revealing an annular solar eclipse, often called the “Ring of Fire.”
During this event, the Moon moves in front of the Sun but looks slightly smaller, leaving a bright ring of sunlight burning around its outline. The result is a surreal sky halo, not full darkness, but a radiant circle hovering overhead. The annular solar eclipse will only be visible from remote parts of Antarctica and the southern regions of the Southern Ocean. BUT the effects are energetically felt by all of us all over he planet.
This eclipse is a reminder that even when light is covered, it never truly leaves.
So as you can see the month of February is filled with fire energy.

Full Moon in February is February 1st- Snow Moon
February’s full Snow Moon arrives on February 1st. The explanation behind February’s full Moon name is a fairly straightforward one: it’s known as the Snow Moon due to the typically heavy snowfall that occurs in February. On average, February is the United States’ snowiest month, according to data from the National Weather Service. In the 1760s, Captain Jonathan Carver, who had visited with the Naudowessie (Dakota), wrote that the name used for this period was the Snow Moon, “because more snow commonly falls during this month than any other in the winter.” Source: Farmer’s Almanac
