Our Theme for February is Love
February is the shortest month of the year but somehow, especially in the Northeast - it can feel long. During this time we must remember that there are seeds below the ground just waiting to sprout in Spring. Think about the seeds we are planting for the Spring in our lives. February has several holiday and events. Many of which have the theme of love in them - none more so that St. Valentine’s Day on 2/14.
2/14 we have Valentine’s Day which in our culture has so many double meanings that it can often be a difficult day for those who are not experiencing the relationship they wished they had, while others seem to embrace all things with red hearts. I view Valentine’s Day as a way to celebrate love in all it’s forms.
February 1st is Imbolc (St. Bridget’s Day - Ireland) which is based on a Celtic tradition and is meant to mark the halfway point between winter solstice and the spring equinox. Imbolc is just one of several pre-Christian holidays highlighting some aspect of winter and sunlight, and heralding the change of seasons and the return of the light.
February 2 is both Groundhog Day and Candalmas (Catholic Calendar). Groundhog Day - For a detailed read on Groundhog day I suggest this link to the Library of Congress article. Candlemas commemorates the ritual purification of Mary, 40 days after the birth of her son Jesus. This day also marks the ritual presentation of the baby Jesus to God in the Temple at Jerusalem. The festival is called Candlemas because this was the day that all the Church's candles for the year were blessed.
The weekend of 2/10 and 2/11 brings us Lunar New Year and the Super Bowl. Lunar New Year: is the Spring Festival and celebrations last 15 days and often include massive amounts of fireworks! Preparations include, a huge clean-up (purification) to sweep away any traces of bad luck. On the eve and day of Lunar New Year (also referred to as Chinese New Year) there are massive feasts including whole fish to symbolize the abundance of the coming year. Each New Year there is a new zodiac animal associated with that year. 2024 is the Year of the Dragon. The dragon is a powerful symbol in China and represents good luck, justice, prosperity and strength. Super bowl Sunday which while not an official holiday, it certainly has evolved into a cultural event here in the US where people gather (often whether they follow football or not).
All of these holidays around the start of February have themes of purification, hibernation, seeking signs of spring, planting seeds (at least in our mind first), return of the light and lengthening of the days. The larger metaphysical themes are spiritual awakenings, initiations, prosperity, self-love, romantic love and inner journeys.
I am very excited to be a Workshop Leader in an hydrid intensive 4 day “Living in the Light” program led by Cheryl Banfield of Love Light Illuminations Center. This program is a vibrational training for all aspects of your being: Mind, Body, Spirit, Soul, Oneness. It is more unlearning than learning: It is for expanding self and universal awareness and it is unlike any other program. The workshops will provide interactive experiences and learning self-healing techniques for full integration of all 5 aspects of self: mind, body, spirit, soul and oneness.
Part I: Sat Feb 10th & Sun Feb 11th
Part II: Sat March 2nd & Sun March 3rd
The morning sessions will consist of guided multidimensional sensory meditation. You will receive: transmissions of light, light code activations, and high resonant downloads with crystalline light frequencies. The afternoon sessions will continue your transformational shifting through powerful workshops held by 4 light facilitators, all trained LoveLight Practitioners: Catherine Anesi, Rosemary Boyle Lasher, Mandy Mathiesen and Emily Medri.
Living In The Light will bring you into energetic alignment by shifting your frequency. This allows the opportunity to reach newer understanding, access divine consciousness, step into cosmic flow and receive divine light, which you will then transmit out into the world.

Our Crystal For February is Rose Quartz
The stone of unconditional love. Rose Quartz, with its gentle pink essence opens the heart. It carries a soft feminine energy of compassion and peace, tenderness and healing, nourishment and comfort. It speaks directly to the Heart Chakra, dissolving emotional wounds, fears and resentments, and circulates a Divine loving energy throughout the entire aura. Reawakening the heart to its own innate love, it provides a deep sense of personal fulfillment and contentment, allowing one the capacity to truly give and receive love from others.
Rose Quartz also inspires the love of beauty, in oneself and others, in nature, and especially that which stimulates the imagination - art, music and the written word. It is a calming and reassuring crystal, excellent for use in trauma or crisis, including the emotional upheaval of mid-life crisis. It strengthens empathy, sensitivity, and aids in the acceptance of necessary change. It is also an excellent stone for comforting grief.
Full Moon in February is February 24 - Snow Moon
February’s full Snow Moon reaches peak illumination at 7:30 A.M. EST on Saturday, February 24. It will be below the horizon at this time, so for the best view of this Moon, look for it starting the night before or later on Saturday; it will drift above the horizon in the east around sunset and reach its highest point in the sky around midnight. February’s full Moon is a “Micromoon” this year. Think of this term as the opposite of a “Supermoon.” It simply means that the full Moon is at its farthest point from Earth (not the nearest point). In astronomical terms, we call this “apogee.” Specifically, February’s Micro full Moon is about 252,225 miles from Earth.
The explanation behind February’s full Moon name is a fairly straightforward one: it’s known as the Snow Moon due to the typically heavy snowfall that occurs in February. On average, February is the United States’ snowiest month, according to data from the National Weather Service. In the 1760s, Captain Jonathan Carver, who had visited with the Naudowessie (Dakota), wrote that the name used for this period was the Snow Moon, “because more snow commonly falls during this month than any other in the winter.” Source: Farmer’s Almanac
