March 2023 Expansion ✨ Blue Lace Agate

ex·pan·sion

noun. the act of expanding or the state of being expanded. something expanded; an expanded surface or part. the degree, extent, or amount by which something expands. an increase, enlargement, or development, esp in the activities of a company.

For March 2023 - we are referring to the expansion of consciousness and our crystal of the month - blue lace agate supports that theme.

We can see our choices and the consequences of our actions through a lens of interconnectedness. And we can learn to tap into a larger field of awareness that puts us in better touch with our inner resources, with one another, and with the fabric of all life.
— Lisa Miller the Awakened Brain

Consciousness can be expanded - opened and raised, intuition strengthened, and senses heightened.  Waking up to a different awareness of the physical body can at first carry with it some discomfort as you become aware of your body, what it carries and where it needs attention.  Instead of self-judgment or feeling victimized or blaming others, this expansion can help you take responsibility for how to move forward in better care and nurturing of your body.

March brings the energy of the number 3 – it is the 3rd month.  The Number 3 is highly expressive. It encourages us to express our truth, speak up, and communicate our needs and desires to ourselves, others, and the world. The number 3 represents the sum of who we are- a mind, body, and spirit. It represents the harmony and balance that is achieved when we are in alignment.  Staying balanced and paying attention to the messages of your mind, body, and soul is going to be important around this time.

Full Moon in March occurs on Tuesday 3/7/23 at 7:40 AM EST.  it is known as the Worm Moon.

The full Moon names used by The Old Farmer’s Almanac come from a number of places, including Native American, Colonial American, and European sources.

March’s full Moon goes by the name Worm Moon, which was originally thought to refer to the earthworms that appear as the soil warms in spring. The worms invite robins and other birds to feed—a true sign spring is on it’s way!

March 20th brings us the Spring Equinox at  5:24 P.M. EDT. This falls on a Monday and is the astronomical beginning of the spring season in the Northern Hemisphere and the autumn season in the Southern Hemisphere. After the spring equinox, the Northern Hemisphere begins to be tilted more toward the Sun, resulting in increasing number of daylight hours, with earlier dawns and later sunsets! (In the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the opposite: the March equinox marks the start of autumn, as the Southern Hemisphere begins to be tilted away from the Sun.)

Each milestone in any given year is an invitation to be aware of the passage of time, of the seasons of what some term the “turning of the great wheel”. March is the month where everything begins to wake up again including us!

Spring is the perfect time of year to think about planting “seeds” of what you want to manifest in your life. I invite you to meditate in March on what it is you wish to manifest for the remainder of 2023. It is the perfect time of year for this.

Crystal of the Month is Blue Lace Agate

Blue Lace Agate is a deeply nurturing stone that supports expression and the throat chakra.  It is a soft, soothing stone that bring trust and loyalty and helps boost confidence.  This powder blue stone helps us remove fear from speaking our truth. This stone activates strength in our speech and helps those who perceive they are not being heard.  Blue Lace Agate is often found in Namibia. The image on the left is Blue Lace in its raw form and the sphere is polished.

Spring is a time of expansion and also introspection, freedom of expression, fertility, and reorganization.     There is an emphasis on how we waste our time and how easily we can be distracted from what really matters. This is a highly creative energetic time – but is also erratic and unpredictable. It is also the time where we often embrace the energy of “Spring Cleaning”

Smudging or Energetically Cleaning Your Home

Spring and particularly March and April are a wonderful time of year to not only clear physical clutter but also psychic clutter.  Smudging can help. For those who do not know about smudging – a brief little tutorial is below.

Instructions and details on how to use sage to clear your home.   I like to perform this ritual at least 4 times a year in and around my home. Smudging with sage is a ritual used to clear negative energies from a space or one’s body. Be sure to be aware where your smoke detectors are and not over do this! Intention is really what matters here (and really in any ceremony). Bring your intention to what it is you wish to remove from your home and then invite in what you wish your home to feel like. For example, welcoming, harmonious, peaceful.

Directions for smudging an apartment or home:

1 – Hold your smudge stick by the end with the stem. Light the other end on fire.

2 – Hold the smudge stick for a minute or two as it burns. Look for the tips of the herbs to begin to glow like embers. If the flame dies out before this, simply re-light it.

3 – Blow gently on the smudge stick to put out the flame. Continue blowing to fan the burning embers until the stick is smoking.

4 – Keep a heat proof container, such as a small cast iron pot, clean ashtray or seashell nearby. You can use this to hold your smudge stick if necessary and to extinguish your smudge stick.

5 – Hold your smudge stick in your hand and offer a prayer to the Divine and ask for its help in removing negativity.

6 – Start at the entrance to your home or apartment. Purify a location by walking around with the smudge stick in hand, fanning the smoke into corners, around windows and doors, and throughout the entire room. Negative energy becomes trapped in small, tight spaces such as corners and closets. Spending extra time in these areas to move the negative energy out. You can smudge your entire home to bring positive vibrations into it. Walk counter-clockwise through each room. When you come back to the starting point, the ritual is complete.

7 – Cleanse negativity from an object by holding it above the smoking smudge stick and running it through the cloud of smoke. Often people like to do this for any item especially personal items like jewelry.

8 – Thank the Divine and pray for blessings. Extinguish the smudge stick by either crushing the end of the stick or snipping the smoldering end off with a pair of scissors, catching the burning embers into the heat proof pot or a traditional large seashell. Be sure there are no burning leaves left on the smudge stick before putting it away. Wait to dispose of embers preferable outside in the earth.
